I would like to share some photos I took at Pak Ou Caves when I visited Luang Prabang, Laos, in early June 2026. I had originally thought that the only way to reach Pak Ou Caves from the town of Luang Prabang was by boat, so I had no plans to go there. However, Copilot informed me that I could reach the boat landing on the opposite side of Pak Ou Caves by riding north along Route 13, so I decided to go by motorcycle instead.
It took me more than two hours to arrive because I stopped many times along the way to take photos, but I believe that if you ride straight without stopping, you could reach the area in a little over an hour. That said, Route 13 suddenly turns into gravel in some sections, and there are places where large holes have opened in the road, so if you go by motorcycle, I think it is safer to keep your speed low.
Pak Ou Caves itself consists of two caves, and the photos I am sharing here are of the Buddha images inside the cave located near the riverbank.
* Note
I mentioned above that I used Copilot, but that does not mean Copilot was useful for my travels. In fact, I personally experienced far more harm than benefit due to Copilot’s misleading answers during the trip. If you intend to use Copilot as a kind of travel guide, I recommend understanding how to ask questions and how Copilot tends to respond, and above all, not relying on it too much.
