I would like to share some photos of Wat Phra Pathom Chedi Ratchaworamahawihan in Thailand, taken in January 2011. I had visited Nakhon Pathom only once about thirty years ago, but after that I rarely chose it as a destination because it is so close to Bangkok and does not really match my travel style. However, on this day I had nothing to do while staying in Bangkok, so although it was not planned, I suddenly decided to go there. I took a minibus from Victory Monument and headed to the temple.
Since I no longer remembered anything from my first visit, it was almost like seeing the stupa up close for the first time. I already knew that there was a large stupa there, but the actual size was far beyond what I had imagined. It felt almost unreal, and I even thought it looked like computer graphics. In one word, it was overwhelming.
It seems that Thailand still has many places I do not truly know, even though I sometimes think I already understand the country.
