I am sharing images of Besakih Temple in Bali. In the past, I posted photographs of the first gate that visitors see after entering the temple complex. This time, the images were taken in an area farther inside the temple grounds.

Some of these photographs may look familiar to those who have researched Bali before their trip, as they show views that are often featured in travel guides and on travel websites. Besakih Temple was one of the main destinations of my trip to Bali, and visiting it reminded me once again that it is a temple with scenery that truly symbolizes the island.
Unfortunately, when I visited, the sky was covered with clouds, and the sunlight occasionally broke through from behind the clouds, creating a backlit scene. Under these conditions, a normal photograph would either have a washed-out sky or a subject that was too dark. Because of this, I had little choice but to apply fairly strong HDR processing to these images. As a result, I think some of their realism has been lost.
I visited Besakih Temple in July 2024, between about 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. I cannot say whether morning or late afternoon is better for photography, but I hope this information may be useful when planning a visit to Besakih Temple.
