I am sharing images of Wat Santi Wanaram in Udon Thani, Thailand, taken in November 2016. After visiting the Ban Chiang National Museum, I noticed a faded signboard with a photograph of a building shaped like a lotus flower. I asked a nearby person what it was. He told me that it was a beautiful new temple nearby and recommended that I should go and see it. So I decided to follow his advice and go there.
Because the photograph on the signboard had been badly faded by the sun, I was somewhat skeptical that the temple would really be that beautiful. However, in fact, it was really beautiful. I was also lucky to visit in the late afternoon, when the setting sun was shining into the interior of the building. That may have made it look even more beautiful.
However, workers were still busy around the main hall and on the bridge crossing the pond that leads to it, so the temple may not have been fully completed at the time of my visit. Please note that these images may look slightly different from the appearance of Wat Santi Wanaram today.
