I would like to share some photos taken at the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, Thailand, in May 2011. As I wrote in my previous post about Pratumnak Hill, Pattaya is a place where I usually do nothing and spend my time in a very relaxed way. Because of that, I normally do not do any sightseeing in this city.
However, one day I happened to see an advertisement for the Sanctuary of Truth at my hotel. It reminded me that I had once read in a guidebook that there were pink dolphins at this place. I suddenly felt like going there, so I rented a motorbike and headed to the site.
But I went out only with my motivation and without preparing any map, so I had to ask people for directions many times on the way. At that time Google Maps was not as common as it is now. When I finally reached the entrance, I was told that the pink dolphins I wanted to see were no longer kept there. I became a little discouraged and even thought about not entering the facility.
Now I feel very glad that I did not give up and go back because of my frustration.
The main building of the Sanctuary of Truth looks like something from a fantasy movie, and the countless wooden sculptures placed everywhere are so detailed and mysterious that I can only describe them as “amazing.” To my own surprise, I spent six hours there without getting tired of looking at everything.
Because of that, I have a large number of photos of the Sanctuary of Truth. This time, I am mainly sharing photos of the wooden sculptures on the roof of the main building. I would like to share photos of the area around the main building and the interior on another occasion.
