I am sharing images of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, taken in July 2024. The mosque is located in Shah Alam, a city near Kuala Lumpur. To get there, I took the KTM Komuter from Kuala Lumpur to Shah Alam Station, but since I could not find a bus, I used Grab for the rest of the journey. On the way back, it was already late in the evening, so I took Grab all the way. As far as I can remember, Grab was by far the faster option, taking less than an hour from Kuala Lumpur.
This mosque, sometimes known as the Blue Mosque, is famous for its beautiful contrast of white and blue. Unfortunately, when I visited, the sky was covered with thick clouds. The brightness of the sky made the mosque appear rather dark in my photos, which was a little disappointing. (As a result, I applied fairly strong HDR processing to these images.)
However, as long as it is not raining, the mosque is illuminated after sunset, and I think it would be easy to take beautiful photos there, even with a smartphone. As I write this, I realize that modern smartphones automatically produce images with an HDR-like look, so perhaps daytime photography would not be a problem either.
In any case, I think this is a beautiful mosque and well worth a visit.
