These are images of Wat Thai Yai in Tachileik, Myanmar. Among the temples I visited in Tachileik, this was the largest and most impressive. I remember everything about it being beautiful, including its exterior with many red columns, the geometric patterns on the floor, the prayer hall, and the Buddha images.
This will be my last post featuring photos from this short trip across the Thailand–Myanmar border. I have already written about the other places I visited in the following posts, and I would be happy if you would take a look at them as well.

Enrobed Elephant Temple
I am sharing images that I took in Tachileik, Myanmar. On this trip, I visited Tachileik on a day trip from Mae Sai, Thailand. It might be more accurate to describe it as a border crossing between Thailand and Myanmar rather than a trip to Myanmar itself.

Tachileik Shwedagon Pagoda
These are images of Tachileik Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar. I thought this pagoda was truly beautiful. The weather was not very good, with light rain falling throughout the day, but I imagine that on a clear day the golden stupa would have stood out.
Note: As of July 2026, I am not sure whether foreign visitors can currently enter Myanmar from Mae Sai, Thailand.
