These are images of Tachileik Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar. I thought this pagoda was truly beautiful. The weather was not very good, with light rain falling throughout the day, but I imagine that on a clear day the golden stupa would have stood out against the blue sky and the green mountains.
It may have been modeled after the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, but I think it has its own kind of beauty.
I already wrote my comments about Tachileik in my previous post on Enrobed Elephant Temple, so I would be happy if you would take a look at that post as well.
Note: As of July 2026, I am not sure whether foreign visitors can currently enter Myanmar from Mae Sai, Thailand.
